Monday 25 April
I arrived in Harare last night about 9:45 after what seemed to be a long day - microlight in the morning, fly to Johannesburg, wait 3 hours, then fly to Harare - yep just another day! Hehe
The ride from the airport to my motel was an eye opener. The driver (who is employed by the motel) was a large jolly (at first) black guy called Mike. He welcomed me then took me to his car and said "we are going to the hotel, it is not far".
When we were driving after 25 minutes, I asked how much further it was to go, he got really defensive and spoke in a gruff tone, it scared me, and he seemed to be driving around a lot of back streets, not well lit, grotty litter everywhere etc.
OMG, so now I'm thinking is he taking me somewhere and gunna rob me or rape me or kill me (I have an active imagination), but wouldn't you be scared? As it turns out, he didn't do any of those things; we arrived safely at the Hotel and I live to tell the tale.
Anyway, today's another day, another adventure. I am scared and excited all at the same time. I am being picked up at my motel and taken for six hour drive to visit Alisa (my sponsor child). I really really hope the drivers name is not Mike!
So, I imagine that I will have no connection, Internet or mobile for the next few days, so will be in touch later. If I have not made any contact or blogging by Saturday, please someone send out the search party!
Love to all xx
